What belongs on the UPS
Server or accounts PC, the small switch that feeds it, and the modem/ONT if remote support matters. Desktops, heaters, and the packing-line printer do not. Overloading a cheap line-interactive unit is how “we have a UPS” still ends in a dirty reboot.
Runtime beats brand stickers
Ask for minutes at your measured load, not a brochure VA number. Digitech usually aims for enough time to save work and shut down, or to ride a typical 10–15 minute cut if the plant generator is slow. Batteries older than three years of daily cycling are suspects — replace before winter, not after the first blackout ticket.
Test once a quarter
